For ten years, I have been teaching, and at some point, I gave the first spiel. I don’t know when exactly it was, but it happened. As class started to wind down, I sat on the desk at the front of the classroom and gave a few closing remarks. I don’t remember where I got the term spiel from, but I would define spiel as a short speech intended to give wisdom. This blog will serve as a place to store my spiels. At least once a week, I’ll share a spiel from class to try and give a little inspiration out into the world.
Spiels generally take five minutes or so to give in class, and it generally takes an idea, statistic, or moment and unpacks it until it starts to mean something more than when it started. I hope you enjoy.
